Decks have personalities, just like readers have personalities. Imagine reading two books about the life cycle of the hump backed whale. Even if they were both written by PhD scientists, even knowing that they cover the same set of information, the books would have a different feeling to them. In the same way, different decks lend their personalities to the information that they divulge.
By the same token, different readers, reading the same reading, even with the same deck, will give two different readings. Those readings may be similar, may be very similar, but the personality of the reader is included in the reading. Again, imagine two different people reading Moby Dick aloud to a class. The story will take on a slightly different meaning based on the emphasis the reader puts on certain words, the pauses that are made, the inflection. For these reasons, a Tarot reading is a very personal, individual and unique event.
Discuss the deck choice with your reader. He or she may have a deck with which he or she has a good personal spiritual binding or an intuitive connection. Maybe they will have a good feeling for a particulr deck that day. Maybe they will feel something strong in reference to you and a particular deck.
If you feel strongly about a particular deck, and the reader has that deck, talk to him/her about it. Usually, your reader will be glad to use your prefered deck unless they have a strong reason to avoid that deck.

3-Card:
The quickest spread is the 3-card spread. This gives you a past, present, future card.
This spread is a quick spread for getting a good daily bearing on what is going on for you currently. This spread
is $1.00.

Snake:
I have been working on a new spread called the Snake. It is a 5 card spread. It gives a beginning, a baggage card (what you carry), a center card, a motivation card, and what you leave behind. This spread is a more detailed version of the 3 card in that is gives some reason behind the cards and not just the basics. This spread is $3.00

Daily Reflections:
Another 5 card spread is the Daily Reflections spread. This spread focuses on today. It talks about a current situation, a challenges or opportunity today, advice for today, a lesson, and a glimpse into the near future. This spread is $3.00.

The Celtic Cross:
The traditional "Celtic Cross" spread is a much more detailed spread and takes longer to decipher. The Celtic has eleven cards. There is a card for the querent called the significator (some readers don't use a significator card in this spread). This gives some insight into the person who is asking for the reading. There is a cover card which refers to the present situation. A crossing card that indicates the current challenge or opportunity. A crowning card - which is a development in the near furture, a goal, progress. A foundation card - like past influences, something that has influenced the current situation. The card behind or near past - the is from where you come. It *may * be past or it may be be something through which you are just coming. It sort of depends on how it fits with the rest of the cards. The next card gives what is before - the near future, what is just coming into being.
Then we move into the last four. Card 8 - You, yourself - how you see yourself, what you bring to the equation that could influence this particular situation. Card 9 What strengthens you - this is often an environmental card, you it may show family or friends. Card 10, the hopes and fears, sometimes expectations. Card 11 - What will come - also called the outcome card. This card hints at the result of the situation.
This card is the one that causes the most confusion. I have had people come back to me and say that my reading was wrong because the outcome card didn't happen. "I didn't lose my job!" Well, yeah. The reason they didn't lose their job was because the reading gave them insight into what was going on and they were able to change their actions, their performance, etc, so that the reason they would have lost their job wasn't there anymore. So, was my reading bad? no. It was good. It prevented in a way the negative outcome by giving them the insight to change when perhaps they wouldn't have known to change otherwise.
